Day 3

Gurjaani – Sighnaghi – Bodbe – Gurjaani – Tbilisi – Airport

Departure from hotel. First visit will be to the nunnery of Bodbe, a pilgrimage sight for all Orthodox Georgians. Next we will visit the pearl of this region, royal town Sighnagi, which was erected by the last king of Georgia Erekle in the 18th century. Lunch in Sighnaghi. Visit to the church of Mother of God in Gurjaani (8-9th century).

After visiting the church, we will head to the guesthouse “Wine House Gurjaani” (www.winehousegurjaani.ge). After a brief rest, the hospitable hosts will acquaint you with the ancient tradition of winemaking and culinary arts. You may get involved in the confection of the Georgian national delicacy called “churchkhela” (walnuts, like beads on a string dipped in boiled wine sauce and after cooling in the solid state, it becomes tasty delicacy).

You will see and be able to take part in baking of Georgian bread “Shoti”. Afterwards all the guests will be invited to the large dinning hall, furnished in a typical Georgian style.A decent Georgian feast will await for you by the fireplace, led by a toastmaster and accompanied by the Georgian folk songs & music. Departure towards Tbilisi International Airport.
