Day 2
Khertvisi – Tmogvi – Vardzia – Khertvisi
After the breakfast, we will start hiking towards the Fortress of Tmogvi, historical castle town of the Middle Ages (6 km walk). Subsequently, we will continue our path towards Vardzia, a grand cave town of the 12th century. Along the way, an expert naturalist will acquaint you with the diversity of local nature. History of Vardzia is connected to the Queen Tamara, one of the most beloved Georgian rulers & was constructed in the golden age of the kingdom.
The Cave town is located near the village of Vardzia in the valley of the Mtkvari river, 70 kilometers from the Borjomi district. We will have lunch by the river in Vardzia or along the way back to Khertvisi. Dinner and overnight in the same guesthouse.
