Day 2
Tbilisi – Mtskheta – Shio Mgvime – Tbilisi
After the breakfast, the group will travel to Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia, (25 km. from Tbilisi) to attend the morning service in the cathedral of Svetitskhoveli. Svetitskhoveli is one of the main cathedrals of Georgia (1010-1029). After the morning service the group will drive uphill to the Jvari Monastery (VI century). Lunch in the local restaurant.
After the lunch group will visit Samtavro nunnery of Mtskheta. After Samtavro, group will travel to the Monastery of Shio Mgvime. After excursion of the monastic complex, you may wish to meet the inmates of this monastery. After the visits return to Tbilisi and rest at the hotel. Dinner in a popular restaurant. Overnight at the hotel.
