Day 3

Tbilisi – Telavi – Tsinandali – Gurjaani – Sighnaghi 

After the breakfast and check-out from the hotel, we will depart towards Kakheti region, fabled as “Homeland of wine”. First visit will be in Telavi. Along with Tbilisi, Mtskheta and Kutaisi, Telavi is one of the oldest cities of Georgia. Here we will visit the winery, “Teliani Valley”. Experienced enologist will lead tasting of different wines produced in this winery. Then we will head in the direction of Tsinandali, where we will pay a visit to the residence of Georgian poet Prince Alexander Chavchavadze. We will visit a museum and an old wine cellar in which the ancient bottled collection of wine is preserved.

Next we will visit traditional Kakhetian family “Wine House Gurjaani” (www.winehousegurjaani.ge). In this house, hospitable hosts will acquaint you with the ancient tradition of winemaking and culinary arts. You may get involved in the confection of the Georgian national delicacy called “churchkhela” (walnuts, like beads on a string dipped in boiled wine sauce and after cooling, in the solid state, it becomes tasty delicacy). You will see and be able to take part in baking of Georgian bread, “Shoti”.

Afterwards all the guests will be invited to the large dinning hall, furnished in a typical Georgian style, where a decent Georgian feast will await for you by the fireplace, lead by a toastmaster and accompanied by the Georgian folk songs & music. After the feast, we will drive towards the royal town of Sighnaghi. Accommodation at the hotel. Free time and dinner at your leisure.
